Supporting healing, without harming the planet.

We started the Grandfather Project with a mission to support and fund plant medicine with a promise to do no harm. Every product we make is made from compostable, recycled and/or sustainable materials, and made locally in Los Angeles.

DESSERTO® CACTUS LEATHER

Our cactus-leather goods are made from DESSERTO® , the world's first highly sustainable and environmentally friendly organic material made of Mexican Nopal cactus. Nopal cactus requires zero irrigation nor pesticides and naturally enriches the soil, promoting biodiversity and healthy land use.

Traditional animal leather requires on average 80,000 gallons of water to produce one square meter of fabric, whereas DESSERTO® only uses 5 gallons. Based in Zacatecas, Mexico, DESSERTO® grows Nopal locally and employs members of the local community who have been cultivating this precious crop for generations.

100% ORGANIC COTTON

Made without the use of pesticides or synthetic chemicals, organic cotton is safer for the environment, the farmers and the people who use it and is fully biodegradable, which means it leaves zero waste after use. Organic cotton is also softer, more durable and lasts longer than conventional cotton, which means it’s a better investment for your closet, and the planet.

Our organic cotton merch is coloured using an organic dye made of San Pedro cactus, sourced in the Sacred Valley of Peru and includes a hidden medicine pouch woven from hand-spun cactus silk.
